Our team operates and coordinates the technical systems and standard for (((eTicket Deutschland, the electronic fare management system in public transport. The name of our company is VDV eTicket Service GmbH & Co. KG.
Our limited partnership was established on 1 January 2014 as the successor company to VDV-Kernapplikations GmbH & Co. KG, which was established in 2003 as a development company with the aim of developing an e-ticket standard for public transport that later came to be known as the VDV Core Application. We currently have 12 partners, plus VDV through VDV eTicket Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH in its capacity as a general partner.
We issue the (((eTicket Deutschland standard and develop new technical solutions. Part of this is supporting the participating companies and suppliers while setting and monitoring organisational rules.
We also certify the components used, such as contactless chip cards, sales terminals, validation terminals and background system interfaces. CTC advanced GmbH, an independent company, operates its own testing laboratory for this purpose.
Security management also falls within our scope of responsibilities. The service provider T-Systems administers our centrally issued keys and security certificates in a trust centre. We manage the security process and the ASM tool web service, which is provided to our business clients through our partner IVU Traffic Technologies AG.
The service provider Atos Worldline GmbH assists us with the internal exchange of data for business clients participating in the (((eTicket system. Atos Worldline operates a central exchange on our behalf, thereby using the Web to enable an interoperable network (ION) for (((eTicket Deutschland.
As a central service, we also issue invitations to tender for chip cards on behalf of transport providers and authorities, plus we offer consultancy workshops for transport providers and system component manufacturers. Our range of courses includes seminars for beginners and experts as well as user training.
It goes virtually without saying that we strive to keep the methods and processes used state of the art. All participating transport authorities and providers can therefore contribute to improvements by submitting change requests. Our standardisation working group, which is made up of experts from transport authorities and providers, supports us and advises us in our assessments of these change requests. The meeting of participating transport providers is responsible for approving change requests.
We are also state of the art internationally and maintain a strong network by cooperating with Calypso Networks Association in Belgium and ITSO in the United Kingdom, among others.
